161 Robert Redford
Descriptions > Other backgrounds
Robert Redford was in a number of movies and directed a memorable one.
I am a baseball movie junkie. It is hard for me to find a baseball movie that I do not like. From the original "Angels in the Outfield" which was in black and white with no black players to the new "Angels in the Outfield" in color with black players and manager in a stadium that I had been to. There was "The Final Season" that takes place in part where I live and in a town I have done senior portraits.
"The Natural" is a most unique detailed baseball movie. Fiction yes, but I can tell some of the influences. A movie made in 1984 that takes place in the late 1920's and 1930's. The set design, costuming and the very reality of it is spectacular and exciting to watch. You may see it here. You may have to disable an ad blocker.
The other movie is one that Redford directed, "Ordinary People". A very interesting plot and an acting performance by Mary Tyler Moore which is the far opposite of her Dick Van Dyke days. So opposite that I hated her character by the end of the movie. The movie takes place in North Suburban Chicago, a lifestyle away from where I grew up in South Suburban Chicago. Check it out here!
Robert Redford, you will be missed!
