       144 Jimmy Carter

The 1976 presidential election between Jimmy Carter and Gerald Ford was the first election that I had the legal privilege of voting.  It was college time and discussions of who to vote for was lively at Bradley University's Gamma Theta chapter of the Alpha Kappa Psi Fraternity.  This was also the first election at Computer Science majors were members of the chapter.

It was an interesting discussion.  It seemed that the computer science majors of which I was one, leaned toward Gerald Ford. The Business Management and Accounting majors leaned towards Jimmy Carter.  Reviewing the promises by the candidates, I brought up that there was a problem with Carter's handle n the numbers.  The reaction by especially the Accounting majors was how could a Computer Science major even bring up an issue of numbers?

Unfortunately the United States and the world experienced this presidential debacle.  Carter allowed the Soviet Union to throw a major bomb into the United Stated economy.

It is difficult to find an original economic or foreign policy in the Carter administration.  His grasp on science was also week.  This was especially evident in his energy policies.  The more we learn about oil, it seems to be an ever regenerating natural resource and found in places which required a bit of looking.  Turning thermostats to a ridiculous level made him a laughing stock.

As the presidency was not his calling area of excellence, his work after the presidency was.  His dedication to Habitat for Humanity was grand.  I applaud him.  His writing about how to prevent voter fraud was spot on, unfortunately the Democrat party decided to use it as their playbook to steal elections.

From what I could see Jimmy Carter was a good Christian man with good intentions who gave a good effort at a job he was not made, but showed how good he was when not president after his time in office.

From the novel But But I Loved, A Paranormal Journey, I present this encounter describing how even though the main character's father had died the perfectness of heaven is described:

"“Wait!” I interrupted, “How can he know any of these things. He had died in 1996.  With all that I had been taught in church, Sunday School, and confirmation class with a dose of two classes in college my bets were on it that he went to Heaven.  And Heaven is that perfect place where all sadness is gone!”

“So what is sad about what I had told you?” asked Shea.

“Ignoring Carter and Obama?”

“Bush too.” explained Shea. “seems all positive to me!”

“So he doesn’t know of the demise of Luther South then?”

“Now you know why he referred me to you!” Shea exclaimed. “Your ability to grasp these things is quite fast.""

There will be no talk of a 39th president in Heaven.  There will be knowledge of a great humanitarian by the name of Jimmy Carter in Heaven!
