132 Bob Uecker
In the art world it is said that find and pick you medium. Bob "Ueck" Uecker played five years of major league baseball including his hometown Milwaukee Braves. He was a catcher and somewhat good defensively but not a great hitter. He batted .200 for his career. fourteen home runs also. He was quite the clubhouse person. Joking, making fun of himself, pulling pranks. He even got Bob Gibson to smile in a team picture (but it cost both of the a few hundred dollars and made them take the picture over again.)
It was this clubhouse communication skill that allow Ueck to do his second and third careers. Broadcasting and acting. He did a sitcom for six years. He pitched Miller Lite Beer with some of the most creative commercials ever made. Johnny Carson labelled Ueck Mr. Baseball for his ability to talk about the game and make fun of himself. He played the baseball radio announcer in all of the Major League trilogy. It has been said that much of his calls he improvised.
I have heard many of the great announcers in baseball. Vin Skully, Harry Carey, Jack Brickhouse, Herb Carneal, John Gordon, Ed Farmer. But I most enjoyed Bob Uecker as he was the whole package.
As said in the novel But But I Loved a Paranormal Journey, only good things will be remembered in heaven, Ueck has a ton of material that will be available in heaven.
