186 2026 State of the Union and Rebuttal

Descriptions > Other backgrounds

Virginia Governor Abigail Spanberger gave the Democrat official rebuttal to the 2026 State of the Union address.  She gave it from a historic location in Virginia.  She tried to express that the founders wanted a larger government, but everything I was taught in history classes from Grade School through life state otherwise.  The founders fought against not only taxation without representation, but also fought obnoxiously high taxation and manufacturing restrictions placed on them by the King of England.

The founders while on and off did  political things, they also had farms, businesses, and jobs in the private sector.  This was the basis they had for the citizen legislator. They created the United States to be a limited form central government to do just the basics.  During her rebuttal Spanberger said the opposite.  She seemed to show a limited knowledge of United States history with that one statement.

Spanberger according to her biography published in https://www.britannica.com is highly educated. She earned a degree in French literature at the University of Virginia in 2001 and later a master’s degree in business from Purdue University.  The closest job she had to what can be considered private industry was as teaching English literature as a substitute teacher at the Islamic Saudi Academy in Northern Virginia.  The rest was CIA then elected public service.

Somewhere in her life line, whether it be from working mostly in government positions, a weakness in the master’s degree in business, living in Virginia which has one part of the state being populated by high priced federal government workers then being elected to a house seat she has come up with the illogical idea that raising taxes and fees along with increasing regulation makes it more affordable.

My guess is that she wants to compete with JB Pritzker and Gavin Newsome for the 2028 presidential nod form the Democratic party.

Our current president is the epitome of the citizen legislator.  The presidency is his first foray into election for public office. He was an entrepreneur, business owner, actor, entertainer, numerous ventures, yes, some did well some were challenged.  His involvement in politics in the past were from a businessman’s perspective in navigating rules, regulations, and taxes to complete real estate and other business ventures. IN OTHER WORDS, HE WAS LIVING UNDER LAWS created BY POLITICIANS.

In years when people with his type of money, he could have safely retired and played golf 365.  But his love for a country that gave him much with some bumps in the road pulled him away from that life to try to make it better for all.

This is a guy who made payrolls. I can attest to the stress in life when it is your job to pay workers.

Trump’s speech tonight offered a look into an economy that has been recovering from the debacle of and the crony capitalism of the Biden administration. This first year has been a bit of a repeat of his first term when he corrected an economy that has been recovering from the debacle of and the crony capitalism of the Obama administration.

In his speech he gave specific examples of successes in tax and regulation reform, including tax reductions for the average citizen, getting data centers to agree to build power plants to supply their power with the ability to sell the excess power to the grid, working on rules and regulations to keep large corporate investment companies from buying up housing then renting it and/or selling it for inflated prices and removing illegal aliens (reducing the demand for housing).  He stated record job growth which is backed by reports that the private sector job growth has increased.  This has led to a decrease in need for supplementing life programs. (One item that was not noted by either is that there is a shift in the economy of some of the job types causing some to possibly change careers.)

Trump touted city safety improvements in New Orleans, Memphis, and Washington DC. Public safety is the duty of all government agencies.  Also noted was the increase in military personal from the short supply during the Biden administration.  He also mentioned bonuses and recognized a variety of individual achievements including two 100 year old retired military members, a helicopter pilot injured in the Maduro capture, a flood rescuer, and one recovering from a shot to the head during duty, along with remembering others who had died.

Trump discussed one of the structural problems with the Affordable Care Act (ACA, Obamacare). He stated that a major problem with the ACA is money has been making insurance companies rich while making some health care situations costly.  His first step is to take that money that is direct payments to the insurance companies from the federal government and send it to people directly for their discretionary use.

Trump has recognized that the ACA created by the Democrats is structurally deficient. Spanberger did mention structural problems in rural health care, but could only blame the Trump administration but did not mention that her own party created this mess.  Watch for some solutions to be proposed on this site to attempt to fix the whole health care debacle.

Trump noted that there seemed be a religious revival happening after the assassination of Charlie Kirk. I had seen reports of increases at Catholic and also fundamentalist Christian churches.  Trump noted this a positive.  The history of the United States contains a very robust history of various flavors of Christianity and deism.  For many this is a revival of not fearing earthly death while promoting a unity that some fear.  The historical context is that in the 250th anniversary of the country we must remember that the revolutionary war that created this country included members of the community of all occupations.  There are also stories of minsters who gave their last sermons before putting down their collar and joining the cause.

There was more.  I will update this article with other items when I am more awake as it is late during this writing.

I will offer this. The first Trump administration gave three and a half years of very positive happenings including a solid border then the Virus and its mishandling occurred.  We then followed that with four years of an administration that effectively allowed the number of people that was larger than a number of states to traipse over the southern border and infiltrate various cities and states.  We had a city change its makeup by concentrating refugees from one country instead of dispersing refugees of that group across the nation.

We have seen rampant fraud be discovered.  We have started seeing the wall around the results of the 2020 presidential election start cracking and information is now being verified against the fight of those who wish to keep it silent.

We are seeing the Democratic party offering ideas that are expensive, centrally controlling, destructive,
illogical, and unsalable to the masses which has created the perceived need for population stacking.

We saw a president give a State of the Union address that stated many positives to the chagrin of the Democrats and the entrenched.  We saw a citizen president talk about some possible solutions to problems that were not government controlled but government allowed.  He hit the power of central regulators with passion.  He showed positive results.  He stated diplomacy before war.  He explained certain world security needs and possible solutions.  He stated frustrations with situations that were caused by his predecessor’s weakness on the international stage. He stated less not more government.  He celebrated the anniversary of the country and some of the positive things to come.

If you missed this then you were not paying attention.
